The TECSES team recently carried out a field visit to Kalikot, Jumla, and Mugu districts in Karnali Province. The Embassy of Finland also visited the TECSES office in Karnali and met with key stakeholders, including representatives from the Education Development Directorate, Mid-West University, and the Education Training Centre.

School Visits and Local Perspectives

During the visit, the team carried out Focus Group Discussions and Key Informant Interviews with teachers, school staff, and municipal representatives. These discussions helped us learn more about the challenges schools face especially during the monsoon season:

  • During the monsoon, many children miss school to help their families with farming.
  • Missing school means they fall behind in learning.
  • Teachers and local officials are working together to find ways to keep children in school during the monsoon season.

In each municipality, TECSES works closely with two partner schools, supporting teachers and building their pedagogical skills. This collaboration supports efforts to improve learning outcomes and respond to the needs of all students.

Embassy of Finland Visit to Karnali

The Embassy of Finland visited the TECSES office in Karnali and met with key stakeholders, including the Education Development Directorate, Mid-West University, and the Education Training Centre in Karnali.

The delegation also met with Ghanshyam Bhandari, Minister for Social Development in Karnali Province. These meetings were a chance to share updates and continue cooperation in education at the provincial level.

TECSES is funded by Finland and the European Union. Continued support from our donors plays an important role in advancing the project’s objectives.

Finland has a long history of development cooperation with Nepal, particularly in the Karnali region. TECSES builds on this legacy by supporting improvements in teacher education and promoting inclusion.
