About TECSES

Technical Support Cooperation to the School Education Sector (TECSES) is a bilateral development project between Nepal and Finland. TECSES aims to improve teacher education through collaboration with Nepal’s Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST), as well as provincial and local governments, and universities. 

TECSES promotes human rights progressive, expertise-based, and sustainable development to ensure access to quality education for every child.  

The project operates in Karnali, Sudurpashchim, and Madhesh provinces.    

TECSES is funded by Finland and the European Union (EU) and will run for five years, from 2024 to 2029.

Objectives of the project 

TECSES aims to create a cohesive and improved teacher education system involving MoEST and its agencies, faculties of education at participating universities, Provincial Education Training Centers (PETCs), local governments, and schools. 

The project aims to enhance teachers’ professional development and ensure quality and inclusive education. 

The four outputs of TECSES are: 

Output 1: Enhanced capacity of participating universities to develop and implement state-of the-art pre-service teacher preparation   

Output 2: Enhanced capacity of federal education to effectively carry out their mandates in teacher education in terms of teacher training policy, curriculum development, quality and accountability.   

Output 3: Enhanced teacher education capacity of participating PETCs and schools to provide inclusive and quality teacher education and teaching.   

Output 4: Enhanced capacity of participating local governments and schools to plan and implement educational activities including teacher professional support, educational leadership and management
